"I was growing up on someone else's holiday." Mathias Kessler (b. 1968, Austria) is a New York–based photographer whose work critically reimagines the relationship between human societies and the natural world.

Third-generation photographer. MFA from SVA. Exhibited internationally at Kunsthal Rotterdam, Kunsthaus Graz, and Columbus Museum of Art. His work appears in The New York Times, Die Zeit, Camera Austria, and Kunstforum International.
